Not as competitive as the numbers suggest and this looks a good opportunity for NIGHTSINWHITESATIN to gain a deserved first success of 2026 after a series of runner-up efforts. Pol Roger is feared most on the back of a recent Ayr success, while fellow course scorer Pearl Eye can also have a say. Storm Point completes the shortlist on his first go over this trip.

Comentários Timeform

Sharp Move (IRE)
Wide-margin winner of 1¼m Newcastle maiden in November. Only twice raced since and not discredited on his handicap bow despite coming in last of 8 at Sandown (1¼m, good to soft) 6 days ago. Tongue strap goes on for first time. May do better.
Freddie Steady Go
Bumper winner but caused a major upset on third Flat start when landing 7f novice at Carlisle in May. Beaten under 3 lengths when eighth of 16 in 9f York handicap debut. Not out of things.
Nightsinwhitesatin
Won back-to-back 1¼m handicaps at Nottingham/Newbury last summer. Yet to score this term but is knocking on the door, runner-up for the fourth time in 3-runner handicap at Hamilton (1½m, good to firm) last time. A likely player once more.
Mehmas Champion (IRE)
Fairly useful performer for Andreas Wohler in Germany (fourth in the German 2000 Guineas) but nothing like that level for current yard and difficult to recommend until showing more.
High Point (IRE)
Won at Yarmouth in June (11.5f, soft) in June, Has finished last in 3 handicaps since joining his new stable but could take a step forward now returned to a longer trip/softer ground.
It'sneverjustone
Back-to-back winner of 7f handicaps last summer. Returned in good nick with in-frame finishes at Doncaster/Thirsk in the spring but well held on his last 2 runs. Upped markedly in distance now.
Pearl Eye
Scored at Hamilton and Ayr for his new yard this summer and posted another solid effort with sixth of 13 in handicap back at Ayr (1¼m, good) 24 days ago. This course winner can make his presence felt once more.
Pomme Pomme (IRE)
A 5-time winner (including over C&D) in 2025. Largely below par this season though and only seventh of 9 in all-weather handicap at Lingfield (1¼m) 12 days ago.
Pol Roger (IRE)
Ended a long losing sequence in 13-runner handicap at Ayr (1¼m, good to firm) 26 days ago. Up 6 lb but this course scorer should remain competitive.
Arcadian Nights
Hasn't shown his form on turf in 6 attempts since August 2023 and went with little fluency after a 5-month absence when fifth of 7 in handicap at Sandown (1¼m, good) 28 days ago. Others are much preferred.
Knight Of Glory (USA)
Fairly useful 1m winner at his best. Off 4 months and hooded when a tailed-off last of 5 on his handicap debut at Lingfield (9f, good to firm) in June. Eyeshields and blinkers go on for the first time after another break.
Blue To Blue (IRE)
Triple winner for Karl Burke in 2025. Mixed bag for new connections, running one of his lesser races when twelfth of 13 in handicap at Hamilton (9f, good to firm) 23 days ago. This course winner has it to prove.
Night Patrol (IRE)
Fairly useful 7f juvenile winner for Richard Hannon. Well held in 7f handicaps at Beverley and Doncaster for his new yard in early summer though. Takes a big step up in trip now.
Storm Point
€140,000 Blue Point gelding. Firmly on the up when doubling his tally at Newbury (1m, good to soft) in June. Didn't meet expectations over same C&D (good to firm) latest but not out of things stepping up in trip here back on softer ground.
